How to play
- 1Tap Play. The snake is already moving right on the 17×17 board.
- 2Steer with arrows, WASD, or a swipe. The game queues one turn and ignores a 180° reverse.
- 3Eat the apple for 10 points. The snake grows by one and a new apple appears on an empty cell.
- 4A golden apple is worth 50 and vanishes after a few seconds. The step speeds up as you eat, then caps.
- 5Hit a wall or your own body and the run ends. Restart from the toolbar or press R.
- 6When a run ends, InstantGameBox saves your personal best on this device.
About this game
Snake is the arcade classic in the browser: a 17×17 board, a short snake already moving right, and one apple on an empty cell. Steer with a turn. Eat the apple, grow by one, and score. The run ends when the head hits a wall or the body. There is no wrap-around.
This InstantGameBox version queues one turn and refuses a 180° reverse, so a late press cannot fold the snake into itself. Food never lands on the body. About one apple in eight is golden: it is worth more and disappears after a few seconds. The step interval tightens as you eat, then holds a floor so a phone stays playable.
On a phone, swipe to steer — there is no on-screen joystick. At a desk, arrows and WASD turn, P or Space pauses, and R restarts. Pause and Restart sit in the HTML bar above the board. Mute stays on the shell Back/Mute row.
When a run ends, the shell records your score and personal best on this device. A mid-run snake can come back through the shell save if you leave and return.
If you want another short session after this one, Tetris is at /2d/puzzle/tetris and 2048 Classic is at /2d/puzzle/2048.
