About this game
A 36-cell 2048 board for long merge chains. Same slide-and-merge rules, more planning, higher tiles.
This is the marathon 2D size. Thirty-six cells give you room to build a staircase, then punish you if you leave a junk pile in the middle. Panic survival is cheap; order is the real score. Merges still happen once per tile per move. One new 2 or 4 appears after every successful slide.
A 2048 tile is the first celebration, not the end. Extra space makes that tile easier than on the original 4x4, so the interesting part is how you keep the field sorted after it. Hint on this board is a shallow local search so a phone does not stall.
The 5x5 at /2d/puzzle/2048-5x5 is one step tighter. The 8x8 at /2d/puzzle/2048-8x8 is the huge board. Classic 4x4 lives at /2d/puzzle/2048. Each size is its own page and its own saved run.
Play with a swipe, the on-screen pad, or arrows and WASD. Undo is unlimited in free play. When the grid finally locks, the run posts to your board.

6x6 2048 FAQ
How long is a 6x6 run?
Longer than Classic. Thirty-six cells take time to fill if you keep the field sorted. A typical session is a focused stretch, not a one-minute arcade round.
Is 6x6 just easier 2048?
Survival is cheaper. Disorder is the real loss. If you spray small tiles across the middle, the board still dies. The original 4x4 is /2d/puzzle/2048.
How is this different from 5x5?
Eleven extra cells and a longer planning horizon. The 5x5 is at /2d/puzzle/2048-5x5. The huge board is the 8x8 at /2d/puzzle/2048-8x8.
Can I play 6x6 2048 with a keyboard or a swipe?
Yes. Arrows and WASD on a computer. Swipe or the on-screen pad on a phone.
What is the goal tile on 6x6?
The first celebration is 2048, same as Classic. You can keep the run going for much higher tiles.
